Peru was the guest of honor of the third edition of the Latin American Film Festival ”Pelicula”, which took place between September 12 – 16, 2018, in 17 cultural facilities of Bucharest. The said festival included almost 50 cultural events, as the screening of more than 20 Latin American movies, workshops for adults and children, music shows and art exhibitions. The said events were carried out in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru in Romania, as well as with Embassies of the other Latin American countries as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba and Mexico.
Peru was represented by the Peruvian movies ”El Abuelo”, by Gustavo Saavedra, “Retablo”, by Álvaro Delgado Aparicio, “Sigo Siendo” by Javier Corcuera”, “Rodencia”, movies for children by David Bisbano, as the documentary “Los Ojos del Camino”, by Rodrigo Otero, and the short film “Taxista”, by Enrica Pérez. The inauguration that took place on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, consisted in the screening of “El Abuelo”, which was preceded by the show of the Peruvian artist Itto Meza and a speech of the Peruvian Ambassador. For its part, the short film “Taxista”, screened on Thursday, September 13, 2018, was accompanied by a Pisco Sour workshop and a music show by the Peruvian singer Tania Morales, activities offered by the Embassy of Peru.
It is worth mentioning that the main Peruvian event of the festival, celebrated on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the French Institute of Bucharest, was the screening of the documentary “Sigo Siendo” by Javier Corcuera, who was invited by the Embassy of Peru to take part in the presentation, where he gave a speech and answer a few questions asked by the public. The said screening, which took place with all the seats taken, was followed by a Pisco Sour cocktail offered by the Mission of our country to Romania.
Likewise, on Friday, September 14, 2018, the Peruvian artist Ricardo Terrones inaugurated his exhibition “Man, Nature and Humanity”, at “Gallery”. Within the festival, the workshop for children “Travelling through Peru” was also carried out.
It is worth mentioning that, for the first time, the festival had an international jury to select the best movie, “Retablo” being the winner. The director of the said movie, Álvaro Delgado Aparicio, sent a virtual thank you message that was presented during the award ceremony.
