With the aim of strengthening bilateral dialogue, the General European Manager of the Ministry of External Relations, Peruvian Ambassador Amador Velásquez; and General Manager of the Americas and the Caribbean, the Romanian Chancellery, Ambassador Gabriel Gafiţa, led the third Mechanism of Peru-Romania Political Conferences, which took place on April 27, 2015 at the Palace of Torre Tagle, in Lima, with the participation of diplomats and officials of both countries.
During the business meeting, was highlighted the good level of bilateral relations and mutual interest to strengthen the integration mentioned in the political, economic and cooperation aspects. In this regard, Ambassador Velásquez emphasized the importance of increasing the volume of bilateral trade, based on multiparty trade agreement between Peru and the European Union (EU) and to strengthen the cultural and educational ties allowing a better interchange and better knowledge between the two countries.
Following the political dialogue, the parties decided to establish a working group that will be responsible for drafting “road routes” to increase trade and investment; to verify, purge and update the legal basis; in addition to the evaluation and recommendation of activities united against drug trafficking, including the ability to identify Lima as the seat of a future regional representative unit in this matter.
It remains to be emphasized that the projects established between the two countries support the viability of raising their status from associated businesses to strategic partners.
