In a special ceremony held on the 14th of this month in the city of Craiova, Peruvian poet Arturo Corcuera was awarded “Mihai Eminescu” Special Grand Prize of Poetry in 2016.
The distinction mentioned above, consisting of a diploma, a medal and a silver sculpture, was handed by Prof. Ion Deaconescu PhD.,President of “Mihai Eminescu” International Academy, who highlighted the exceptional poetical work of Arturo Corcuera, which has been translated into numerous languages, including Romanian. Deaconescu referred to Corcueraas “the best known poet of the South American continent, with anunmistakable lyrical voice.” In this ceremony were read the poems of Corcuera, which were translated into Romanian, reading that was followed by the public with close attention.
In the same ceremony Min Tae Young was also awarded, South Korea, poet, professor, literary critic and translator of the Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quijotede La Mancha, from Spanish to Korean.
This awards ceremony ended the fourth edition of “Mihai Eminescu” World Festival of Poetry, held in 10th-14thof May in Craiova, which covered various literary poetry recitals and conferences, including poetry reading in educational centers of Craiova. Besides the awarded poets, this edition was attended, among others, by Justo Jorge Padrón (Spain), Dante Maffia (Italy), Sreten Perovici (Montenegro), Paskal Gilevski (Macedonia), Jeton Kelmendi (Albania), Rade Silijan (Macedonia) Fiona Sampson (England) and Ruth O’Callaghan (United Kingdom).
