Lima, July 28, 2013
I am pleased to address you on the occasion of the 192thanniversary of our beloved homeland. On this day we remember the effort and sacrifice of our ancestors who managed to achieve national independence, we renew, on our turn, our commitment to the ideals of freedom, democracy, peace and development that inspired your facts for the importance of our beloved Peru.
In an international context that continues to be characterized by a severe economic crisis, Peru has maintained economic growth and especially has important successes in ensuring social inclusion and reducing poverty and inequality, so that all Peruvians may exercise their rights, to be able to get quality public services and be take advantage of opportunities that economic growth offers.
The clear progress achieved in the area of social policies, constituting a fundamental commitment of my government, are also the result of persevering work of Peruvian citizens, including that of those who are abroad, who with much effort contribute to their families’ direct benefit, tothe economic growth of Peru and of the countries they reside in.
I am absolutely aware of the tremendous sacrifices you make being away from your families, living together with different cultures, seeking wealth and opportunities that in many cases, you have not had in our country. But today, I can ensure you that Peru is changing and needs to continue to count on your valuable support. Therefore, in March last year was approved the law No.30001: “Law of Social and Economic Reintegration of Returned Migrants “, designed to facilitate the return of Peruvian citizens residing abroad through tributary and socio-economic encouragement, in such way that your experience and knowledge that you have acquired abroad can be shared and applied to support national development. Those who consider to return, are welcomed in the country that needs them.
Today we celebrate ananniversary additional to our national independence, I reiterate the commitment that Peru State has to you and I convey my deep gratitude for preserving and spreading the values, culture and our customs, which make possible the idea of fulfilling the noblest mandate we have as citizens of Peru: increasing the country that saw us being born.
National Happy Holidays!
Long live Peru!
