On October 09, 2017, the Embassy of Peru in Romania inaugurated ”The Peruvian Gastronomy Week” at the emblematic Hotel Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest, to take place until Sunday, October 15, 2017. During the said event, a menu with the traditional dishes of our cuisine, as ceviche, anticuchos, lomo saltado, arroz con pato, ají de gallina, suspiro a la limeña and pisco sour, will be offered.
The aforementioned opening consisted of a buffet prepared by the renowned Peruvian chef Irene Gutiérrez, owner of the restaurants “Sumaq” and “Piruw” in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, invited to participate by the Embassy of Peru. Mrs. Gutiérrez had the support of Hilton Executive Chef Franz Conde and his team. It is worth mentioning that various representatives of the political, educational and cultural fields of Romania, as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps and representatives of the local Peruvian local community were among the participants.
At the beginning of the event, the Ambassador of Peru in Romania gave a speech on the history, richness and diversity of the Peruvian food, as well as the importance that it has reached worldwide, achieving renowned international awards. Likewise, the social component of the Peruvian cuisine boom was highlighted, which has allowed promoting social inclusion and economic development in our country, as well as the appearance of events such as the fair “Mistura”, where all the actors of the productive chain are represented.
The event was enlivened by the Peruvian musical group “Peru Místico”, brought from Spain by this Embassy and composed of Peruvian citizens based in that country. The mentioned group carried out various dances of the national folklore of the three regions of our country: the Coast, the Mountain range and the Forest; like Marinera Norteña, Festejo, Sinkuy, Huaylash de Carnival and los Cholones de Rupa Rupa.
