On April 02, 2018, at the ceremony of taking the oath organized at the Government Palace by the President of the Republic, Martín Vizcarra Cornejo, Ambassador Néstor Francisco Popolizio Bardales became the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
Ambassador Popolizio graduated International Relations of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru, as well as the Faculty of Law of the Mayor National University of San Marcos (UNMSM). He also attended postgraduate courses of International Political Relations at the International Institute of Public Administration (I.I.A.P.), in Paris, France.
His diplomatic career, with more than 35 years of experience, unfolded at the Permanent Representation of Peru to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, in New York, and at the Peruvian Embassies to the United States of America and Brazil. He was also Ambassador of Peru to Portugal and Colombia. It is worth mentioning that he was part of the Peruvian negotiation team in the peace process with Ecuador, concluded with the signing of the Brasilia Act, in 1998.
He was also Under Secretary of State for America and, for two times, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, the last time from 2016 to date.
